A home should be a place of renewing and replenishing. When you are at work or school, throughout the day you are being drained. You are giving, giving, giving. You meet grumpy people that try your patience. Your boss or coworker get on your nerves. All day long, you are told how you don't add up. On your commute home, you are stuck behind someone that is going 20 under the speed limit, and the person behind you is honking, showing off one or two fingers. Drain, drain, drain!
When you come home, there should be peace. The family should encourage eachother. You should take the time to build eachother up, after the day has torn you down. When you get home, you don't need more advertisements on TV saying how you need this or that to be something special. Our time at home should once again be a place of rest. You can invision this by picturing your spirit as a glass. You should be leaving the house full, as the day goes on, you begin to be drained, but from the time you come home, your cup should slowly be filled until it is about to spill over.
Most of us, our homes are not a place of peace and renewal. Our homes are a battleground. Some of us get filled up more by our work than our own homes. If this is the case, your home is disfunctional! Get back to the basics. Ask God that He would settle the dischord in your home. Pray for your spouce's, child's, pet's behavior. Pray that your own attitude would change first. Look for ways to build up every member of your family. Are you filling their cups? If not, start pouring!
Many of us are being drained by work and our home. You won't survive! You may already be dry, nothing left to give. God promises that if you ask Him, He will fill your cup! Don't let another day go by without being renewed and replenished!
