The Game of Life.

I decided to start reading articles on the Focus on the Family website. I came across a few letters that were written by a man named John Thomas. The link to the article is above.
This article goes into three different components in finding God's will for your life. I think that sometimes people over analyze what God's will is for their individual life. I felt it really put it into the simplest terms based on Biblical teaching.
In summary, it talks about three parts to living out God's will for your life. John compares it to a triangle. On the bottom, is the foundation of the triangle and the most important part, without this foundation, you cannot successfully have the remaining two parts. The foundation is this, "God first, then you." It goes on to say that the question we must be asking ourselves daily is, "How could I live my life in such a way that brings God the most glory?"
Once the foundation is set, you can move up to the second level, which is, what is my role as a woman, mother, wife and friend? The article says, "The theme for the male (female) life is being proactive — proactive in nurturing your faith, in your pursuit of and intimacy with a wife (husband), in starting and leading a family, in living with eternity in mind, in creating fun-filled adventures for you and your wife (husband) and family, in pursuing a noble cause, and in leaving a godly legacy that utilizes your unique design and giftings." He compared the second level as a game. From age 0-20, you are in the pregame warmup. Age 20-40 is your first half of the game. In the first half you are getting a feel for the team, what is needed, what is expected. In your 40s you experience the half time. Often times at half time, you make adjustments, figure out what you did right or wrong during the first half to prepare for the final half of the game. Age 50 and beyond, you have worked out enough to end strong and powerful.
I really enjoyed level two of the triangle. It gives me a little bit of grace at where I am at in life and leaves me hope that the best years are still ahead of me.
The third level of the triangle is finding your unique gifts and abilities that will help bring Glory to God and to serve others. It also has you look at your life and ask a few quesitons, "What drains me?" "What energizes me?". These two questions can narrow down to some exacts of what you would be most successful and efficient at when serving God. If you are doing a job or a ministry that drains the life out of you, perhaps it isn't the right place for you. It does warn that people often times think that their strengths are what God is calling them to do, but all throughout scripture, it talks about God using people that didn't have strengths in a particular area to fulfill His will and to bring Him glory. A couple examples would be Moses being a poor communicator, being sent to Egypt to be God's voice, or a couple fisherman, being called to be apostles and to build Christ's church.
